The annual list is compiled by T+L’s A-list experts who know everything and anything about travel. Many factors were taken into consideration when determining 2016’s top destinations, which range from classic vacation spots to under-the-radar gems to destinations that are now easier to get to.
The carefully curated list for the upcoming year includes exotic locations — Ghent, Belgium; Tanzania; and Kochi, India — and less glamorous destinations in the United States, including Detroit and Richmond, Virginia.
Out of 50 global destinations selected, San Antonio is the only Texas city on Travel + Leisure's list. The magazine touts the sexy new renovations to the St. Anthony Hotel, the River Walk, and the new Hotel Emma with all of its culinary additions.
Travel + Leisure goes so far as to say, “San Antonio, you're becoming cool.” But who’s kidding who? The magazine's a little late to that game — The Alamo City's been pretty cool for a while now.
