United Airlines to launch nonstop service from Houston to Sydney

It's about to get a lot easier for Houstonians to have fun Down Under. Thursday, United Airlines announced plans for Houston-Sydney service, a 8,596-mile flight. 

The daily nonstop flight departs George Bush Intercontinental Airport at 8 pm and lands in Sydney at 6:30 am, two days later.

On the way back, passengers leave Sydney at 11:50 am and arrive in Houston at 10:35 am the same day.

The flight will be operated with the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner featuring seating for 252 passengers (48 in business class, 63 in economy plus, and 141 in coach). 

United has served Sydney since 1986, when it began flying Los Angeles-Sydney. United also flies San Francisco-Sydney and Los Angeles-Melbourne.
