United Airlines has received final approval from the Department of Transportation to launch service to Havana from Houston and Newark in late fall.
The airline will offer nonstop service from Bush Intercontinental Airport to the Cuban capital every Saturday beginning December 3. The 2-hour-30-minute flight is scheduled to depart Bush at 1 pm and arrive in Havana at 4:30 pm local time. It will depart Havana at 5:30 pm and return to Houston at 7:20 p.m.
The round-trip economy fare is around $500.
Beginning Nov. 29, United will start daily nonstop flights to Havana from Newark Liberty Airport.
