Oh, how we celebrated the announcement of Megabus.com's Texas routes! Fares to Austin, Dallas, San Antonio and New Orleans starting at $1! Free Wi-Fi and clean restrooms! Double-decks to stretch out in!

Perhaps that was all too good to be true: Travelers will find that, when attempting to book a trip through the online reservation system, Austin is no longer a destination option when departing from Houston, nor vice-versa.

KHOU reports that the route cancelation has something to do with "a legal conflict with two of the bus companies that contract with it." (Kerrville Bus Company was serving Megabus routes between Houston and Austin.)

The services from Houston to New Orleans, Dallas and San Antonio will continue, but the pickup and drop-off location has changed. The new stop is the parking lot of 815 Pierce Street, directly across the street from the METRO Downtown Transit Center.

Have you had a chance to travel on Megabus yet? Were you looking forward to that Houston to Austin route?
