In a press conference Tuesday afternoon, TCU head football coach Gary Patterson announced that former starting quarterback Casey Pachall will withdraw from school for the fall semester so that he can enter in-patient rehab.
Pachall was suspended indefinitely last week following an arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Patterson said he was unsure of whether Pachall would be entering a 30-day or 60-day treatment program, but that the former starter would be welcome back at TCU if he is able to "get himself clean."
TCU's is still reeling from a drug sting earlier this year that resulted in 17 student arrests, four of whom were football players.
Trevone Boykin replaced Pachall in last weekend's game against Iowa State, where TCU snapped its 12-game winning streak with a 37-23 loss to the Cyclones. Boykin is a redshirt freshman who was practicing at tailback most of last week, according to Patterson.
TCU will look to rebound this Saturday when they take on the Baylor Bears in Waco at 6 pm.
