A local sports fan is calling for Houston rap legend Bun B to be banned from cheering on local teams.
Dontralle Brown Reed started the petition calling it, "To ban Bun B from Houston sports," according to change.org.
Reed claims the rapper's support is bad for our teams. "We have lost players, prime time games, and shots at championships every time he's involved, from making appearances to his songs. The fans are growing tired and this has been going on the past five years. He only comes around when we are winning, so its (sic) only right to ban him from the teams. He is a bandwagon (fan) for his image," the petition reads.
So far, Reed doesn't seem very likely to garner enough support to have his petition taken seriously by its recipients: Mayor Sylvester Turner, Texans owner Bob McNair, Astros owner Jim Crane, and Rockets general manager Daryl Morey. The petition has garnered fewer than 200 signatures, with several "signing" just to post a comment in support of Bun B. "Let's blame a rapper for sports team not winning," one person writes. "How about the teams play better."
