Perhaps it was the sinking price of oil or a lack of catwalk inspiration, but this year's picks for the best looks of 2015 fall short of the ultra glam moments of 2014. Just like the red carpet looks at this year's Emmy's and the Oscars, H-Town fashionistas stepped out in elegant but more subdued glamour than in years past. However, we did find those who clearly made a fashion statement.
Few in H-Town are more glamorous than Jessica Rossman, pictured here at the River Oaks Country Club tennis tournament luncheon with two dapper gents — Justin Yoakum, left, and Sam Governale.
Fashion blogger and one of Houston's most stylish women, Carrie Colbert rocked the sidewalks of Milan in her Burberry Prorsum trench, Alexander McQueen dress and Guiseppe Zanotti heels.
It's a special look that requires a special gal and Melissa Mithoff fits the bill perfectly in this Tom Ford ensemble that she selected for the store opening in River Oaks District and the swell dinner that followed at the Menil Collection.
The River Oaks Country Club tennis tournament always brings out the color and the fun in our fashionistas, three of whom gathered for this poolside photo — Karen Mayell, Fady Armanious and Diane Lokey Farb.
The stunning fur-trimmed gown by Fendi was a show-stopper as worn by Carrie Brandsberg Dahl at the Houston Grand Opera Ball.
Becca Cason Thrash never looked better than in this dynamite cocktail suit by Dolce & Gabbana. She wore it when she hosted the D&G dinner at her home, following the store opening in River Oaks District.
Bobby and Phoebe Tudor cut a strking swath through the Wortham Theater Center Grand Foyer as they donned requisite masks for the Houston Ballet Ball. Phoebe's gown by Monique Lhuillier was complemented by the custom mask created for Phoebe by milliner Cathy Rascoe.
Heart of Fashion CEO & Founder Vivian Wise, pictured here with renowned model Carmen Dell'Orefice, donned a Stella McCartney dress for the Heart of Fashion grand finale at Million Air hanger.
There was no beating Joyce Echols' glam factor at the Omega gala celebrating the 45th anniversary of Apollo 13. She is on the arm of Steve Wyatt.
Marketing director by day, artist by night, Ashley Henry Wynne chose red for a Valentine's day event at Saks Fifth Avenue. The A.L.C. mid-calf skirt and crop top in velvet and lace was a standout.
For the Heart of Fashion announcement party at Fire Station No. 3, Elizabeth Petersen rocked the scene in a leather knife-pleated skirt by Isabel Marant and YSL blouse. She accessorized with an Alexandra Knight alligator clutch and limited-editioin Louis Vuitton shoes.
All eyes were on Sue Smith as she coursed across the dance floor in this fab Oscar de la Renta gown at Wortham Theater Center for the Houston Grand Opera Ball. Her jewels by Ernesto Moreira.
Imagine designer Lela Rose's surprise when Hallie Vanderhider arrived at the Tootsies' trunk show and luncheon wearing the same fabric. It was to Lela's delight as she donned one of her matching oven mits for the photo.
So many beautiful photos, so many to choose from — Lynn Wyatt never fails to ramp up the glam factor at any event she attends. At the Espana-themed Houston Grand Opera Ball, she channeled a striking Carmen in this red Valentino gown.
Hats off to Todd Fiscus, Ceron and Mark Sullivan, who took the Hermann Park Conservancy's Hats in the Park theme to heart.
Houston Chronicle Best Dressed honorees Katie Brass in Gucci and Allie Fields in Valentino were the best dressed of the Best Dressed at the annual spring luncheon.
The black and white theme of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston Grand Gala Ball was a challenge for some fashionables but not for Cynthia Petrello and Diane Lokey Farb, both of whom stepped out in black-tie sophistication.
Melissa McCaffrey and Liz Glanville kicked it up a notch for the lunching ladies and gents attending the Society for the Performing Arts fall luncheon. Both caught our eye in their statement luncheon dresses.
Love, love, love a man in lavendar! No surprise then that Milton Townsend, pictured here at a Houston Grand Opera tea at the home he shares with Jackson Hicks, is included in our line-up. The Ralph Lauren Purple Label jacket sets the tone for the Hamilton shirt and tie fro Zara. Slacks are Vivienne Westwood and the shoes are YSL.
