The record-breaking 400 guests pouring into the opulent Memorial area home of Marie and Dr. Ed Bosarge had surely been saving up their appetites all day long for the Home Safe Home benefit for which 11 of H-Town's leading chefs put on an unforgettable spread. Tradition has it that this fundraiser for Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse (AVDA) is one of the tastiest around.
Chefs David Cordua, Mark Cox, David Denis and Randy Evans brought in the best of their respective kitchens. John Sheely, Neal Cox, Kiran Verma and Erin Smith earned the crowd's approval. Danny Trace, Christofer Dilan and Elliot Kelly provided tasty contributions as well.
Rounding out the experience, event sommelier Antonio Gianola paired each of the 11 signature dishes with boutique wines provided by Esprit du Vin French Wine Merchants. Among the wines showcased were Alsace wines from the Trimbach family and winemaker Jean Trimbach was on hand to present his vino.
Headliners included event chairs Leisa Holland Nelson and Julie Hardin. Taking bows as honorees were CenterPoint Energy's Scott Rozzell and wife Karen, Marathon Oil's Michol Ecklund and Ascend Performance Material's Maidie Ryan. Channel 2 KPRC news anchor Dominique Sachse introduced them.
Among those admiring the Bosarge home and savoring the food offerings were AVDA board chair Mark Russell and wife Sylvia, Judges Judy and Doug Warne, Nancy and Don Woo, Shirley and Jim Dannenbaum, Lynn Kamin, Karl Oswald, Karen and Buster Freedman and Amy Pierce.
