What: Grand opening of the latest Boardroom Salon for Men.

Where: Vintage Park Shopping Village.

The scoop: Boardroom founder Bruce Schultz of Southlake, Texas, (a Dallas/Fort Worth suburb) winged in for the opening of the fifth swank men's salon in Houston. Since its founding in 2004, the franchise operation has expanded to some two dozen locations in four states. The Vintage Park launch party feted members of the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce.

Guests grazed through offerings by Peli Peli, sipped on TX Whiskey cocktails, and dreamed about driving off in one of the sleek sets of wheels, compliments of Mercedes Benz of The Woodlands, parked out front. Adding to the sophisticated entertainments, Balani Custom Clothiers presented a trunk show and held a drawing for a custom suit.

The Boardroom Salon's signature clubby feel with heavy paneling, leather chairs, and a pool table continued the chain's tradition of luxe pampering for the gents.

Who: Sandy Barton, Adam Leibold, Nelson Sioson, Kathryn Merkel, and Johnni Salgado.
