As the spring party circuit continues to forge ahead, what's another happy social that lauds the philanthropy and business scene that keeps Houston on the international map? The stylish, storied Hotel ZaZa has played host to many affairs — including conferences, luncheons, fundraising galas and private events — so owner Benji Homsey wanted to thank those who have supported his journey with the boutique hospitality group since its inception 12 years ago.
The spirit of The Hamptons descended upon the hotel's Monarch restaurant and patio for this za-za-za-voom polo-themed springtime fete. Similar to a king of sports match in the summer colonies, Veuve Clicquot pink girls meandered around the chic throng of 500 offering a bright concoction of champagne and St. Germain. Chef Jonathan Jones paired the bubbles with a haute version of deviled green eggs and ham kissed with green pea purée and prosciutto, beef carpaccio with caramelized onions and parmesan, and a fresh melange of heirloom tomatoes, radishes and hearts of palm.
Up next for Homsey is the October groundbreaking of Hotel ZaZa Austin, which has an estimated completion date of mid 2015.
Yet much of the attention went to a duo of furry twentysomethings striking a pose for photo opps. That would be Bob and Chico, a couple of ponies from EJC Farms that were obviously veterans of the red carpet. Spinning '80s, '90s and today's hits were DJs Gabe Bizonee and John Tran.
While the hotel's signature rings twinkled in the hands of guests, it was the sparklers at nightfall that ushered the soirée's celebratory ambiance.
Up next for Homsey is the October groundbreaking of Hotel ZaZa Austin, which has an estimated completion date of mid 2015. His plans to expand the brand include future locations in Northern and Southern California, New York and Chicago.
