Sexy hula-hoop dancers, drag queens and Art Cars: Houston's freakiest party is caught on tape

Sexy hula-hoop dancers, drag queens & cars: Houston's freakiest party

Two thousand partygoers can't be wrong. That's the number of costumed merrymakers that poured into Allen Center for the annual Art Car Ball that is part car show, part funky freak show.

Some 30 Art Cars were featured in the night of revelry where personal costuming was part of the entertainment. But then, of course, there were the lighted hula-hoop dancers in tutus, the bands, the tattooed belly dancer, the drag queens, the second line band and food stations. Something for everyone.

Presented by the Orange Show and Arts Brookfield, the party spread from the street through the Allen Center high-rise lobbies and into the courtyard that joins the three downtown office towers.

Clearly, this ain't yo' momma's gala.
