A Houston tradition lives on as thousands gathered for the 37th annual Bunnies on the Bayou outdoor party at Wortham Center's Fish Plaza.
The Houston event, which started with a small group of gay friends in a Montrose apartment complex on Easter Sunday, 1979, has grown into a Guinness Book of World Records-worthy cocktail party and major charity fundraiser that draws revelers from across the nation.
The party always provides an opportunity for celebrants to be inventive in their attire (or lack of it) and this year was no exception. Bunnies and bonnet wearers of all ages, shapes and sizes went all out for a good cause — all proceeds benefit a host of GLBT organizations — and the results were impressive.
Again this year, photographer Dalton DeHart captured the unique spirit of the occasion with an array of bunnies.
