What: Houston Aphasia Recovery Center (HARC) fifth annual "Let's Talk" luncheon.

Where: River Oaks Country Club.

The 411: More than 500 guests packed the River Oaks Country Club ballroom and helped raise more than $250,000 for the organization that aids aphasia (impairment in the ability to speak and understand others) patients and their families.

Nationally recognized speaker and stroke survivor, living with aphasia, Carl McIntyre wowed the gathering with the story of his challenges and determination, fueled by hope, to improve his condition.

Key players in the day were luncheon chair Chaille Strake, honorary chair Rosie Carrabba, emcee Michael Garfield and honoree Dr. Lynn M. Maher, HARC co-founder and chair of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and executive director of the University Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic at the University of Houston
