What: Good Samaritan Foundation's 28th annual "Pearl Ball."

Where: River Oaks Country Club.

The scoop: Ruthie and Adam Miller chaired the annual black-tie gala where Good Samaritan board chair Jason Fertitta welcomed the throng. Proceeds from the "magical" evening, spiced with the antics of magicians David Rangel and Curt Miller, support the foundation's grants, programs and scholarship support to student nurses for their clinical nursing courses. The foundation works to alleviate the current severe shortage of nurses in Houston and throughout the state of Texas as well as the United States.

Who: Cherie and John Lindley, Joella and Steve Mach, Courtney Hill Fertitta, Susie and Mel Glasscock, Lilly and Thurmon Andress, Ann and Johnny Johnson,  Julie and Drew Sudduth and foundation executive director Melissa King.
