The father and son duo of Welcome Wilson Sr. and Welcome Wilson Jr. accepted honors at the Neighborhood Centers annual Hearts of Gold luncheon at the Hilton Americas-Houston where more than 600 prominent Houstonians gathered to salute the gents.

Mayor Annise Parker presented the Alice Graham Baker Crusader Award to the Wilsons at the 16th annual benefit luncheon. The men were recognized for embodying Neighborhood Center's mission of transforming communities for the good.

Joining in recognizing the father and son were Neighborhood Centers CEO Angela Blanchard, Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, Sheriff Adrian Garcia, University of Houston president Renu Khator, philanthropists Trini Mendenhall Sosa and Frank Sosa, Chevron's Joni Baird, Beto Cardenas, Julia and Mark DeWalch and Heather Simpson.
