The stately home of the Ensemble Theatre was taken over by the Houston Museum of African American Culture for its annual gala, this year themed "In Living Color." That motif was inspired by comedian and In Living Color star Kim Coles.
The actress served as honorary chair of the evening that saw 250 guests pour in to the party space that had been divined as a television broadcast set, complete with audience.
Sharing the spotlight with Coles were HMAAC Living Legends honorees Harriett and Harmon Kelley, well-known art collectors.
Guests supped on fare from Langstead Catering, danced to the sounds of DJ Ipod Ammo and were entertained by The Fly Girls, Ms. Benita and Homey the Clown, all characters from the In Living Color sitcom. Coles shared her humor in a brief monologue.
The party crowd included Eddie Allen, Leslie and Brad Bucher, Bill Hill, Annette and Arthur Bracey, Gina and Jon Carroll, Melanie Lawson, John Guess Jr. and gala chairs Tiffany and Dennis Hatchett, Joi and Matt Probus and Cindy and Ron Parris.
