The global water crisis was the beefy topic at luncheon tables at the Hyatt Regency Houston Downtown when the Nature Conservancy of Texas assembled more than 400 enthusiasts for the annual conservation luncheon celebrating the Texas chapter's 20th anniversary.
Angela and Albert Myres chaired the fundraiser that featured author and University of Arizona law professor Robert Glennon as keynote speaker. The author of Unquenchable: America's Water Crisis and What To Do About It discussed this country's water issues and offered thought-provoking ways to solve water shortages in Texas and beyond.
Also taking the podium was Nature Conservancy state director Laura Huffman, who talked about ways that the conservancy is partnering with businesses, communities and state leaders to solve the Lone Star's unique water challenges.
The conservationist crowd included honorary chair Kim Tutcher plus Chevron's Joni Baird, Debbie and Vidal Martinez, Mary Faye and Peter Way, Jana and Scotty Arnoldy, Sarah and Alfred Moran, Bill King, Terry Hershey, Howard Tellepsen, City Councilwoman Ellen Cohen and State Rep. Alma Allen.
