It's hard to say which was more entertaining at the Rienzi "Punch Party"— the concoctions created by bartenders from Mongoose vs. Cobra or the costumes provided by Houston Grand Opera (powdered wigs, anyone?) for photo opps in the Smilebooth.
The second annual salute to 18th-century English libations (spirits, spices, citrus and sugar) and to fall fun welcomed more than 100 partygoers who were game for a taste of the past.
Simply walking through the antiques-filled home is intriguing in itself, but there was more. While sipping and schmoozing on Rienzi's romantic back terrace, guests were entertained by Divisi Strings.
Getting into the spirit of the 18th century were Michael Pena, Vaidehi Godhania, Barbara Goedeck, Helga Aurisch, Julia Oettinger, Sarah Hendershon, Rachel and Bret Harper, Casey Monahan, Sara Brents, Emily Brents, Brian Rod, Sarah Fanelli, Kat and James Borden and Elna and Todd Griggs.
