Well before the man of the hour — Christian Louboutin — arrived for dinner at 51fifteen in Saks Fifth Avenue, the fashionable throng poured in, teetering on those five- and six-inch heels that have skyrocketed the uber shoe designer to Valhalla status.

Cassandra Johnson and Theresa Roemer, both of The Woodlands, sashayed in wearing towering Loubies, one pair studded with golden crystals and spikes, the other patterned in tiny black and white mirror pieces. Roemer is the proud owner of 75 pairs of Louboutins. Johnson (wife of Brooklyn Nets coach Avery Johnson) isn't counting but did allow that she had just donated 276 pairs of shoes, a few of those red-soled wonders among them, to charity.

The two glamazons epitomized the high-style Louboutin devotees that gathered to rub elbows with the man whose enviable footwear costs from $600 to $6,000.

It was nothing less than a killer late-night dinner. The people-watching and fashion displays alone were worth the admission.

The occasion was the Saks Fifth Avenue Key to the Cure kickoff dinner, which was preceded by a cocktail party for a larger crowd that spread across all floors of the Galleria store. The two-tiered event was chaired by Joyce and Hugh Echols, Elizabeth and Gary Petersen and Susan and Mike Plank. And, yes, all three women stepped out in Louboutins.

Once Louboutin arrived wearing a rather peculiar suit in his signature red, he visited briefly with fans (no autographing shoes) and then quickly sat for dinner at a center table with his close friend Becca Cason Thrash to his right, the table filled out by Saks Fifth Avenue president and chief merchandising officer Ronald Frasch, the chairs, Roemer and Louboutin staff.

It was nothing less than a killer late-night dinner. The people-watching and fashion displays alone were worth the admission. While just about every woman in the house wore Louboutins, there was one male wearing dazzling gold Louboutin evening slippers — fashion maven Christian Miranda. He purchased the glittering pair (one of only 20 made) in Paris in June.

It was a night that even the men won't soon forget.

Among the glamorous fashionistas stepping out in Louboutins were Tiffany Smith and her sister Gena Avery, Laurie Schaub, Brittany Sakowitz, Claire Cormier-Thielke, Greggory Burk, Denise Monteleone, Kelli Blanton, Jennifer Roosth, Melissa Mithoff and Millette Sherman.

It was a night that even the men won't soon forget. They included Saks GM Terry Zmyslo, 51fifteen owner Lucky Chopra, designer Bill Hamilton in from New York, Cerón, Michael Mithoff, Tim Moloney, Haag Sherman, Brian James, Tom Anderson and loads more.
