It's been open for a few weeks but it wasn't until a few days ago that the Eighteenth Cocktail Bar threw open the doors for an official opening party that drew a thirsty crowd of more than 500. We think that maybe the early popularity of the spot and its craft cocktails were responsible for the huge draw.

Whatever the reason, the place, formerly the Gallant Knight, was packed with folks ready for a summer happening. While the party crowd mingled throughout the speakeasy-themed haunt and spilled over onto the patio overlooking Bissonnet, bartenders served barrels of the Eighteenth's craft cocktails, including the Blind Pig featuring Riazul Tequila, the Bootleggers Punch with Pisco Portón and the Canary Fizz with Tru Organic Vodka.

Keeping the partygoers steady on their feet was an array of light bites from the speakeasy menu including caprese salad skewers, cappicola margherita flatbread and pulled pork sliders.

Grooving was to the sounds of DJ Mike C. and the Waterstrip Jazz duo.

So who was there? Houston Texans linebacker Connor Barwin, Renea Abbott and Greg Manteris, Dr. Thao Bui, Tod Eason, KC Gifford, Ceron, James Glassman, James Sivco, Gardner Landry, Lisa Gochman, Tiffany Halik, Brian Thorp, Ashley Wyatt and Will Matthews, Tom Shelton, Katherine Orellana Ross and Terry Zmyslo and Will Dobbs.
