There was no question about who was the headliner at the Texas Children's Hospital/David Yurman cocktail party on Thursday night. There was Matt Schaub, all 6-foot-5 of the Houston Texans quarterback, towering over the assembly in his light summer suit, his beautiful blonde wife, Laurie, at his side.

The Schaubs, long-time supporters of Texas Children's, welcomed scores of shoppers to the Galleria boutique for the in-store event during which a percentage of sales would go to the hospital.

"When we started our foundation, GR8 Hope, two years ago, we started having events and raising money. Children were our interest, children with medical needs and disabilities," Schaub said.

"We've volunteered a lot at Texas Children's Hospital over the five years that we've been here. The people there are amazing. The kids are so inspirational . . ." Schaub said.

"We've volunteered a lot at Texas Children's Hospital over the five years that we've been here. The people there are amazing. The kids are so inspirational . . . They're so uplifting and so inspirational that we just knew that that's where we wanted to help out."

So you have Texas Children's Hospital partnering with David Yurman, where the Schaubs are customers and where the yummy jewelry and timepieces beckon. It was a win/win for everyone. As Laurie Schaub noted, "We were so excited to have David Yurman be a part of Texas Children's, which is so close to our hearts and so we get the best of both worlds. People can come and enjoy the jewelry and know that everything goes for a good cause."

While store manager Lauren Granello welcomed guests, area manager Chris Kimbrough shared a few David Yurman insights including the fact that the Houston boutique is the second largest market for David Yurman, behind only the headquarters store in New York City. The men's line of bracelets, timepieces and rings is booming across the country and currently, for Houston ladies, the moonlight ice pieces are most popular.
