There were almost as many cell phone cameras popping photos as there were guests at Lucinda and Javier Loya's home when Interior Design held its "One Night Only" business fete in the Loya's deliciously modern abode.

After all, with more than 150 interior designers and architects on the swank premises, one might expect heightened interest in the surroundings.

Strauss applauded Lucinda's unique home for its "integration of art and design. This place absolutely does it."

The cocktail party was one in a series of events that Interior Design is hosting across the country, facilitating networking and design discovery among talents throughout the design field. Stationing themselves in key position in the late afternoon in order to preview designers' portfolios before the party began in earnest were hosts Interior Design editor in chief Cindy Allen and Interior Design president and publisher Mark Strauss.

"Houston has so much quality design work going on," Strauss told CultureMap. "We present our 'One Night Only' events only in the hottest design markets in the country."

And the selection of the Loya home was no accident. The Interior Design team had scouted several locations in the city before locking in the Memorial area home. Strauss applauded Lucinda's unique home  for its "integration of art and design. This place absolutely does it."

Among those gathered to meet the Interior Design team were gallerist Barbara Davis, architects Beth and Jeffrey Abel (their firm just landed the contract to do United Airlines headquarters in Tokyo), artist Randy Twaddle, Lisa Pope Westerman, Ryan Reitmeyer, Laura Hastik, Aaron Laine, Sandra Mason, Kristopher Stuart and Sally Rice.
