Testimonials from three young Houstonians on the positive impact that The Menninger Clinic has had on their lives was the focus of the clinic's benefit luncheon, held Thursday at River Oaks Country Club.

Michael E. Hanson Jr., Molly Hackett LeFauci and Elizabeth McIngvale stepped forward to help, through their powerful remarks, in the effort to erase the stigma that surrounds mental health. Each panelist encouraged the 400 in attendance to talk about mental health as they do other health problems.

Chaired by Maureen Hackett, the luncheon honored Young Leaders in Mental Health for The Menninger Clinic as the next generation of mental health advocates in Houston.

The event raised $380,000, thanks in no small part to major sponsor Texas Children's Hospital. Menninger president and CEO Ian Aitken announced that luncheon proceeds would support the clinic's Young Leaders in Mental Health advocacy programs.

Supporters included Alice and Philip Burguieres, Joan Alexander, Shannon and Mark Wallace, Linda and Jim "Mattress Mac" McIngvale, Sue Trammell Whitfield, Fran and Weldon Granger, Francy Fondren, Regina Rogers and Bess and Rob Wilson.
