There's a typical old fashioned, and then there's an old fashioned topped off with a flaming orange rind. Houston bartender Megan Blakeway has no qualms about setting fruit on fire in this episode of Old Forester's Cocktail Chronicles, and neither should you.
Watch how she does it in the video, then (safely) make a hot cocktail of your very own with the recipe below.
Yields 1 drink
1 ounce Old Forester Bourbon Whiskey
.5 ounce dry vermouth
.5 ounce St. Germain liquor
1 teaspoon maraschino cherry juice
2 dashes angostura bitters
Add ice, bourbon, vermouth, liquor, juice, and bitters to a mixing glass and stir. Strain over an ice sphere.
Flame an orange rind over glass and express oils into drink.
