More than 125 well-heeled Houstonians lined up at Batanga on Monday night to enjoy Latin-inspired fare and contribute to a good case for the fifth and penultimate installment of Dine Around Houston, the pop up dining summer series from RAM and CultureMap.
They stayed to keep eating chef Ben McPherson's off-menu creations, like the duck confit with sour cherry mole, pickled chayote and queso fresco, and the grilled octopus sofrito vinaigrette, while sipping Pisco Porton Peruvian Mules and Pisco Porton Mojitos.

Monica Pope, Sparrow's renowned chef-owner, has put together a $12 menu for the occasion, and guests can choose between a main dish of a vegetarian Mac & Cheese with Kale and Pickled Butternut Squash; Persian Chicken Salad; or a Lamb Burger with Chickpea Fries.
Each meal is served with dessert — a selection of small bites, including ginger chewies, beet brownie, bittersweet chocolate-pecan toffee and Moroccan dates — and beer pairings from Houston's Karbach Brewing Co., with a choice between the Hopadillo IPA and the Karbachtoberfest.
Proceeds from RAM's final dinner will go to the Ronald McDonald House Houston, a nonprofit that provides a home away from home for critically ill children and their families. The organization will also be collecting food, paper goods, cleaning supplies and gift cards from a wish list, so look for luxury RAM trucks outside of the event to drop off your donations.
At the grand finale, RAM and CultureMap will announce the winner for the CITYCENTRE Staycation Prize, which will set the winner up for a true date night experience including a free night's stay at Hotel Sorella with complimentary breakfast, dinner for two at Texas de Brazil, two tickets to Studio Movie Grill and a bar tab at The Marquee.
