Shoppers rejoice: J. Crew is opening a new Houston storefront at Highland Village, in the space formerly occupied by Tootsies.

After a reader espied this Craigslist job listing for part-time sales and support associates at the "NEW J.Crew Store - Highland Village," we knew that there must have been some substance to those rumors circulating in early December.

Patrice Benoit, assistant to Highland Village owner Haidar Barbouti, confirmed that construction is underway to make room for both J. Crew and Anthropologie, which has plans to move from its current digs on the north side of Westheimer Road.

When pressed about who will be moving into Anthropologie's vacated space — and whether (fingers crossed!) the new resident will be J. Crew's stylish little sister, Madewell — Benoit guardedly answered that they cannot discuss until papers are signed.

Inquiries to J. Crew were not immediately answered.
