Editor's Note: Houston, the surrounding areas and beyond are loaded with must-have houses for sale in all shapes, sizes and price ranges. In this continuing series, CultureMap snoops through some of the best and gives you the lowdown on what's hot on the market.

Renowned architect William F. Stern's legacy is found everywhere in Houston, including high above downtown with a signature-style penthouse he designed in the Four Seasons. That penthouse is now for sale at $4.6 million.

CultureMap featured Stern's private residence at 1202 Milford in an On the Market article earlier this year. That property, then listed at $1,475,000, is no longer available.

Walk through
Enter No. 3007, one of the few private condos at the top of the hotel. Stern arranged the open floor plan into three zones: Living areas with raised ceilings just steps from the dining room, gourmet kitchen and wine cellar; master suite library and media room; and master suite and two guest suites with den. The zones are linked by a hallway along the outside wall, flooding the residence with light and maximizing views of the city's skyline.

A gas log fireplace anchors one end of the living room, with the large dining room lined by doors to the wine cellar with three walls of wine racks in the middle. A breakfast bar with warming drawer is the only dividing element in the main room, and the state-of-the-art kitchen just beyond centers around an expansive kitchen island.

The zones are linked by a hallway along the outside wall, flooding the residence with light and maximizing views of the city's skyline.

The master bedroom with comfortable seating section is separated from the master bath by a sliding glass door. Stone flooring, dual vessel sinks, soaking tub and oversized shower are highlights of the bath, which also includes a water closet with toilet and bidet. Built-ins and windows are found in the two walk-in closets.

The library/study is adjacent to the master bedroom, and following the hallway to the other end of the residence are the media room plus den situated between the two guests suites.

Step outside
Owners have access to a spa, exercise room and area pool. The penthouse comes with three designated parking places. Valet service is available 24 hours.
