Never underestimate Houstonian's love for oysters and Gulf Coast comfort food.

A year after the original Liberty Kitchen opened in the Heights, owners Lance Fegen and Lee Ellis have revealed that they are planning a second location on San Felipe in the former Vida (Sexy) Tex-Mex spot.

With plans to open in the first half of 2013, the new 4,000-square-foot Liberty Kitchen and Oysterette will function as a "big brother" to the original space, with the owners describing the concept as "similar but not the same," in a press release.

"We learned a lot as Liberty Kitchen grew into the neighborhood," the statement reads. "The menu is never static, it evolves constantly."
