Barnaby's Cafes might be named after owner Jeff Gale's departed dog, but the newest, recently-opened Barnaby's doesn't have a dog-friendly patio.

It doesn't have any patio at all, to be fair — instead it has a dog run and picnic tables across the street inside Market Square Park, the better to enjoy a to-go order of a Lebanese chicken fattoush salad or a buffalo burger

The pint-sized sixth location of the casual American eatery is the first location in Houston's downtown business district, next door to Les Givral's Kahve in the former Convey space. Barnaby's downtown will offer to-go orders for lunches in the park (or, less delightfully, at your desk), and is currently only open for lunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (It was packed on Friday afternoon).

However Gale told the Houston Chronicle's Nancy Sarnoff when the new location was announced earlier this summer that he could consider eventually adding breakfast and/or dinner service.
