A pristine lawn, a warm Indian summer evening, a juicy burger and a great beer: Pretty close to perfection, right?
But what if your backyard was Discovery Green, the burgers were grilled up by chefs at Houston's best restaurants and instead of running out for a 12-pack you could sip on samples from local craft breweries?
That's pretty ideal. It's also the setup for CultureMap's first-ever Backyard Burger Grill-Off next month.
Restaurants including Vic & Anthony's, The Grove, The Counter, Houston Texans Grille, Roots Bistro, Whole Foods Market and more will be serving up their unique takes on the burger, from classic to indulgent to boundary-crossing, with brews from Saint Arnold, Southern Star, Buffalo Bayou, No Label and Leprechaun Cider to wash it down.
Guests will vote for their favorite burger creation, and in addition to the people's choice award a panel of judges will crown Houston's burger king.
The backyard gathering takes place on Sept. 22 and will run from 6 to 8 p.m., with VIP entry starting at 5 p.m. Tickets are $45 ($65 for VIP/Early Entry) and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Discovery Green.
