CultureMap's dining out authority Sarah Rufca recently appeared on Great Day Houston to discuss some of the city's best deals at lunch, happy hours and restaurants that allow you to BYOB. Among the restaurants she and host Deborah Duncan discussed were:

Happy Hours

  • Nabi, 1517 Westheimer, 713-526-8866 — drinks start at $3, happy hour appetizers vary each night (Monday-Friday 4-7 p.m., Saturday 9 p.m.-midnight)
  • Mockingbird Bistro, 1985 Welch, 713-533-0200 — wine, classic cocktails $5, local brews two for $5, import and craft brews two for $7, bar bites $5 (Monday-Friday 4-7 p.m.)
  • Alto, 2800 Kirby Drive, 713-386-6460 — domestic beer $2, well liquor $3.50, wine $5, sangria carafe or bottle of wine $15 (Monday-Friday 4-7 p.m.)
  • Underbelly, 1100 Westheimer, 713-528-9800 — 20 percent off any wine on the list (Monday-Saturday 3-6:30 p.m., Monday-Wednesday 10 p.m.-midnight, Thursday 10 p.m.-2 a.m., Friday and Saturday 11 p.m.-2 a.m).
