In New York, those of us poor souls without air conditioning would escape into grocery stores during summer to cool off a bit (and maybe buy some gelato). But through August 31, there's a much cooler reason to head to Phoenicia Specialty Foods downtown.

The grocery store collaborated with graffiti artist Gonzo 247 to create "Yummy! 247," a collection of grocery-inspired art that includes everything from soy sauce to cartoon logos to green peppers. It will change the way you think about art and food, and maybe even make you hungry. (Luckily, Phoenicia can help you out with that.)

The exhibition is on display inside Phoenicia's MKT Bar through August 31. All the works on display are for sale, but many were snatched up on opening night.

It's not the first time that Phoenicia's downtown store has had art on display — in fact, manager Haig Tcholakian says the downtown location has included other artists since its opening, and was even included in FotoFest.

But something about Gonzo 247's bright colors and playful style is attracting even more attention.
