Just another week for Anvil Bar & Refuge.

On June 7, Anvil was named one of four finalists for Best American Bar in Tales from the Cocktail's Spirited Awards. Anvil was named one of 10 finalists for the honor in May, and the winner will be announced in an awards ceremony in New Orleans on June 28.

Anvil joins Clover Club in Brooklyn, D.C.'s Columbia Room and The Varnish in Los Angeles as a finalist.

Being on the short list for a prestigious industry award is cool, but being recognized by The New York Times might be even cooler.

On a Tuesday feature about the classic Pimm's Cup cocktail, Anvil was noted as a place where the drink is one of the most popular items on the menu, with owner Bobby Heugel adding that "It’s a drink that’s turned into an obsession in Houston for some reason.”

It's the second year that Heugel has been quoted in the Times on the subject of summer drinking — I guess having an eight-month summer does give Houston an edge in that regard. This time Heugel also provided a Pimm's Cup recipe for Times readers.

Still not into Anvil? Join us next week when Bobby Heugel repairs the space shuttle using nothing more than Aquavit and some really well-made ice.
