Brennan's of Houston knows a thing or two about how much trees mean to the city — the restaurant's gorgeous patio lost its 40-year-old oak tree during Hurricane Ike, replaced by two younger versions.
Now the restaurant is doing something to provide even more trees for Houston, with the city's canopy still suffering from the 2011 drought. Through June 16, Saturday and Sunday brunches at Brennan's will include a three-course menu, with 15 percent of proceeds going to Memorial Park Conservancy.
The Brunchin' for Branches menu is $32 and includes Brennan's favorites like turtle soup au sherry, eggs benedict and bananas foster.
If you'd rather help by getting a little arbor dazed, order one of Brennan's Memorial Park Trouble Trees. These cocktail trees come with either four or seven drinks each, with options like The Bramble (Beefeater gin, crème de mure, lime juice, simple syrup), Maple Leaf (Canadian whisky, lemon juice, simple syrup) and the Memorial Melon Mist (Midori, Don Q Cristal rum, orange juice).
The Trouble Trees are available at brunch or any time, with a quarter of proceeds going to the Conservancy.
