Gifts come in all shapes and sizes and as the holidays approach, so does the search for delightful presents. So we went straight to some of the retailers headlining CultureMap’s Holiday Pop Up Shop Dec. 7 for their expert opinions.
Their answers are heart-warming, sincere and nostalgic-basically everything we love about the holidays.
“My favorite gift that I receive is an old fashioned love letter from my husband. Every year he writes me a Christmas letter that summarizes all of our blessings that year, and he places it in my stocking."
There is no better time that the holidays to create and cherish tradition and jewelry and interior designer Katie Scott shared the gift that means the most to her and will carry special meaning for years to come.
“My favorite gift that I receive is an old fashioned love letter from my husband. Theresa Roemer’s True and Real clothing collection fills the need she had for easy, sophisticated pieces that travel well through a woman’s busy day and so we appreciated her favorite gift to give or receive answer.

Ten Thousand Villages Houston
Sarah Cloots, the assistant manager of Ten Thousand Villages Houston, was thoughtful in her approach to holiday gift-giving.
“My favorite things to give and receive are 'gifts that give twice.' Something from a small boutique to support local business, a present that includes a charitable component or handmade items with a story of who made them and how. These are the most unique and meaningful gifts to me."
Brooke Feather, owner of her namesake boutique in River Oaks Shopping Center, likes the magic of the holidays, but admits, something sparkly is a lovely gift to give and receive, too.
“My favorite gifts these days are the sweet notes, fairy houses and surprises left for me by my kids when I get home from work. It’s cheesy but true. But my favorite gift to give or receive in general is always jewelry.”
The first-ever CultureMap Holiday Pop Up Shop is Dec. 7 from noon - 6 p.m. at Silver Street Studios. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased here. (In the spirit of the season, a portion of the $10 tickets will be donated to VICTORY and the Washington Avenue Arts District.)
