Missoni's hotly anticipated line for Target was gone from Houston stores almost as soon as it hit Tuesday morning.
If you weren't lined up for the opening, you likely missed out on the designer's collection of clothes and accessories — CultureMap's Meredith Riddle texted from the River Oaks location at 8:07 a.m. that the goods were all but gone. "It was like supermarket sweep; I've never seen anything like it," she says of the crowds.
Twitter tells a similar story. Smileyag02 Tweeted, "it was like an episode of Seinfeld at the Galleria store," and fashionista Joy Sewing said that the South Main location had been cleaned out. The only hope there seems to be for style mavens on a schedule lies in Missouri City, where reports say staffers are unpacking more merchandise.
Although Target's website has been crashing due to the onslaught of online orders, other e-commerce sites like eBay are beginning to see merchandise pop up.
Despite appearances, not everyone was mad for Missoni Tuesday morning, however. Twitter user martnehz asked, "Please clarify. Is Missoni like a Mossimo rip-off? Why the hullabaloo?"
