Project Runway contestant Chris March was a fan favorite, but he's no buddy of Thierry Mugler, the French designer who created the costumes for Beyoncé Knowles' "I...Am Sasha Fierce" tour. March alleges that Mugler hired him as head of costumes for the tour but didn't pay him. (In the fashion world, it's not unusual for a designer to create lavish clothing and hire someone else to make it work.)
March is asking a New York court for more than $44,000 in back pay. But his attorney, Leslie Ben-Zvi, said the designer has no beef with the Houston superstar. She is not named in the lawsuit.
"Chris continues to be a fan and great admirer of Beyoncé, who looks beautiful in everything she wears, especially Chris' costumes," Ben-Zvi told Women's Wear Daily.
"One of the first things I did for (Beyoncé) was put her in a special corset and wrap her in aluminum foil and then wrap a warm plastic around her until it dries," March told The Cut. "There's a huge wire frame that's covered in stretch mesh and trimmed in feathers. There's one that's molded apoxy that lights up like a motorcycle theme."
Now that's fierce.
