Shop exchange: A vintage store relocates into Rice Village with big plans — and free parking

A recent visit to the Buffalo Exchange outpost on 19th Street looked a bit less than kempt, so it came as little surprise when the company revealed it is moving its Houston Heights location to Rice Village in early August.

That new space is in a building formerly occupied by Jaya, with dedicated free parking in the front and the side and walkable surroundings catering to a university clientele. Plus, it's just over two miles (as the crow flies) from the Montrose location at 1618 Westheimer Road.

A release says that the new store will feature "a saturated interior of vintage industrial hues, polished concrete floors, and a 1,925 square foot sales floor," plus nine dressing rooms and two buy counters.

Buffalo Exchange's Heights store opened in October 2007. The Rice Village location will open with the same hours (including 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays) and will donate tokens for bags to the same charity partners — Husky Haven, 14 Pews and Avondale House.
