Liz: Whenever I don't know what to wear, Katie picks out my outfit.  She is my shopping buddy and also encourages me to wear more color.  I just love black!

How has your mother influenced your fashion sense?

Katie: When I was little I remember making fun of my mom's wardrobe choices, but now we like all of the same things.  We end up dressing alike more often than not.

Who is your favorite designer?

Liz: My favorite jewelry designer is my daughter, of course.  For clothes, I like Donna Karan, Helmut Lang, and Rick Owens.

Katie: I agree. We like the same designers so it makes it easy to steal from her closet!

What has been your mother's biggest fashion faux pas?

Laura: Mom has these shoes that are sort of like tennis shoes with a one-inch platform, yet they're patent leather? Yeah, we just don't talk about them. I've tried hard to understand how these fit in with the rest of her closet, but I guess in a way I still love them because they're my mom's.

What has been your daughter's biggest fashion faux pas?

Leisa: Probably hair for both of us. She was blonde in high school, my hair got very PTA looking for a while. Laura had to slap me back into shape!
