As a co-owner and the guiding force behind a slew of trendy Houston spots, including BRC Gastropub, Liberty Kitchen, Petite Sweets, Belvedere and Sam and Lilli (which is named for his grandparents), Lee Ellis loves to combine his passions for food and fashion.

So it's no wonder that a fan snapped a recent photo of Ellis in his favorite macaron-dotted apron during a recent morning at Petite Sweets.

Since today is Ellis' birthday, we decided to make it our Pix of the Day.

As CultureMap previously reported, Ellis is one busy man. He's currently working on a second outpost of Liberty Kitchen in the former Vida space on San Felipe, as well as Cowboy Surfers in Garden Oaks, Lee's Fried Chicken & Donuts in the Heights and a project in downtown Austin (at the corner of 5th Street and Pressler).

Given his penchant for coming up with concepts that Houstonians love, who wouldn't want to be tied to his apron strings?

Got a great photo of a Houston happening or everyday occurrence? Send it to barbara@culturemap.com, along with details (who, what, where and why it's special). It might make our Pix of the Day.
