It’s amazing during the day. It’s awesome at night. It's just pretty incredible whenever you see it.
That’s what visitors and passers-by to the Funnel Tunnel are saying about the 180-foot-long temporary civic art sculpture designed by Houston-based artist Patrick Renner. Made of steel framing and painted reclaimed wood, the structure snakes down the esplanade opposite the Art League Houston headquarters at 1953 Montrose Blvd.
Volunteers joined Renner in stages of preparation by painting the boards at the Art League Houston's Bungalow House. A dedication ceremony in the parking lot celebrated the completion of the installation.
Art League Houston commissioned the work, which reflects the creative people and businesses in the Montrose area.
Take a drive or stroll down the esplanade and tell us what you think!
