The Houston-based, Houston-produced documentary Anderson Fair: For the Sake of the Song is now available on DVD.

The film revolves around Houston's Anderson Fair — a folk music temple situated just off Montrose Blvd, tucked away behind Texas Art Supply.

Anderson Fair has been trucking along for more than 40 years, helping to launch the careers of the likes of Houston-native Lyle Lovett, Lucinda Williams and Robert Earl Keen.

The tiny venue, which is popular location to film live albums and began as a restaurant and retail store, is staffed entirely by volunteers and doesn't turn a profit.

Directed by Bruce Bryant, the documentary premiered at Austin's 2010 SXSW Film Festival and was selected for Houston's 2010 WorldFest International film fest.
