Michael Galbreth and Jack Massing have been artistic partners since graduating from The University of Houston more than 25 years ago. When collaborating on their first work, The Art Guys Agree On Painting, the duo dipped their palms in paint, shook hands and agreed to become "The Art Guys."
The New York Times has described them as "a cross between Dada, David Letterman, John Cage and The Smother Brothers." CBS News Sunday Morning called them, "A mad swirl!"
Although their art may seem a little wacky on first look, beneath its surface absurdities is a well-thought-out method.
In this Hidden Houston video, Galbreth and Massing speak of their beginnings sharing a studio space, their love for asphalt and how they question the world and their place in it through art. Click on the photo (above) or here to watch the video, produced by ZenFilm.
Editor's note: Hidden Houston is an interactive multimedia series that aims to reveal the many things that are unique about the Bayou City and its surrounding areas.
