The item list at Saturday's silent auction benefit for the University of Houston School of Art at the Station Museum reads like a who's who list of Space City artists, featuring everyone from stalwarts like The Art Guys and Rachel Hecker to newcomers like Seth Mittag and Hana Shoup.

Pieces were donated by the artists  all of whom are faculty or alums  with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the School of Art's scholarship fund.

"We're so overwhelmed by the quality of work," said School of Art director Rex Koontz.

"These are not pieces the artists have pulled from a drawer in the studio. These are top-notch works. We're truly honored that our alumni and faculty were willing to donate such amazing material."

Included among the night's highest selling items was a sketch by the esteemed artist Michael Ray Charles (MFA, '93) as well as a print by the late Luis Jimenez, who served on the UH art faculty until his death in 2006.
