Disgust at Alicia Silverstone's mama bird baby feeding is over the top: What's the big deal?

Alicia Silverstone recently posted a video on her blog, The Kind Life, that shows her feeding her 10-month-old son, Bear Blu Jarecki. So what's the big deal?

Unlike most moms, who are introducing eating utensils and cleaning up massive, gooey messes at this point in their child's development, Silverstone opts to "mama bird it" — first chewing up the food herself, then passing it directly into her son's mouth.

Though this time Bear feasted on a breakfast of "miso soup, collards and radish steamed and drizzled with flax oil, cast iron mochi with nori wrapped outside, and some grated daikon," the premastication is no isolated incident.

Silverstone says that her son "literally crawls across the room to attack [her] mouth if [she's] eating. This video was taken about a month or two ago when he was a bit wobbly. Now he is grabbing [her] mouth to get the food!"

This type of feeding is really nothing new, but the video has still stirred up the disgust of media and mothers everywhere.

We must say, with Silverstone's track record as a vocal vegan, and a reputation that leans considerably more hippie now than in her Clueless days, we're not terribly surprised.

Tell us: Can you imagine any other celebrity moms who could get away with this?
