Add director Wes Anderson to the ever-growing corps of Hollywood A-listers who have made the pilgrimage to The Menil Collection, much as gourmands make the trek to three-star Michelin restaurants deemed "worth a special journey."
It was just such a side trip that Anderson made on Thursday, returning to hometown Houston, with his girlfriend, writer Juman Malouf, for a tour of the hallowed museum.
Anderson came in from Austin following his interview during South by Southwest with film director Richard Linklater. The subject — Anderson's latest quirky film, The Grand Budapest Hotel. Coincidentally, the film opened at Sundance Cinemas this weekend.
Menil curator Michelle White escorted the couple through the museum including the vaunted Treasure Room.
Among the stars who have visited The Menil are Beyoncé, Tilda Swinton, Ethan Hawke, Val Kilmer, Francis Ford Coppola, Sofia Coppola, Gwyneth Paltrow and Drew Barrymore.
