University of Texas completely evacuated due to multiple bomb threats: Terrorists in Austin?

Update: The University of Texas says that all its buildings have been given the all clear by law enforcement officials after the multiple bomb threats and that campus will reopen. Classes are canceled for the rest of the day however.

-------

The University of Texas sent an evacuation message to all students and staff on campus Friday morning. The emergency page of the UT website states:

September 14, 2012 9:53 am by clatham

Evacuation due to threats on campus. Immediately evacuate ALL buildings and get as far away as possible. More information to come.

All buildings are being evacuated due to multiple threats. KXAN reports:

UT Director of Communications Rhonda Weldon said the university got a call around 8:35 a.m. from a male with a Middle Eastern accent claiming to have placed bombs all over campus. He said he was with Al Qaeda and that these bombs would go off in 90 minutes. President Williams Powers has been notified, and officials are now evacuating all of the buildings out of an abundance of caution.

Police are blocking all the main entrances to campus as huge groups of UT students congregate across the street from various parts of the campus. At 10:46 a.m., the university tweeted on its official account that the 90-minute time specified in the threats has passed, but all the buildings have yet to be cleared and campus remains closed.
