Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital and San Jacinto Methodist Hospital have been named to Becker's Hospital Review's 100 Great Community Hospitals.
Becker's considers community hospitals as institutions with fewer than 550 patient beds and have minimal teaching programs. The list, published late last month, was based on information, rankings, and recognitions from iVantage Health Analytics, Thomson Reuters, American Nurses Credentialing Center, and HealthGrades, a leading health care ratings company.
As part of the largest non-profit hospital system in Texas, Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital has also participated in Memorial Hermann's Healthcare System Medical Mission since 1999. The Medical Mission serves as a liaison between the hospital and residents during national disasters, according to Becker's. The hospital was awarded the Emergency Medicine Excellence Award in 2012 from HealthGrades.
The San Jacinto Methodist Hospital, located in Baytown, is the only non-profit, church affiliated hospital in the area. Founded in 1948, the hospital has ranked in the top five percent of hospitals nationwide for the fifth year in a row. The hospital was also named to U.S. News and World Report's list of America’s 100 Best Hospitals.
The hospitals are among only three from Texas on the list. The other recipient is Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview.
