Mia Gradney may no longer be delivering headlines for Houston's CW 39, but her familiar face will not be absent from the Houston media scene for long.
Gradney, an award-winning journalist who has covered everything "from hurricanes to Hollywood premieres" in Houston since 2000, will join KHOU 11 this month as the CBS affiliate's newest reporter. Gradney was an anchor at CW 39 featured in billboards, who became in many ways the face of the station's news department.
"For the past 12 years, I've been blessed with wonderful opportunities and achievements at CW 39," Gradney told Houston media blogger Mike McGuff in June. "It's been quite the professional journey, but it's time for me to move on."
"Mia's credentials and versatility as a journalist make her a valuable player that we are excited to add to our team," said Philip Bruce of KHOU.
From the looks of things, Gradney has already been warmly accepted into the KHOU family. The Houston native's wide-ranging talents are much appreciated by the local news station.
"Mia's credentials and versatility as a journalist make her a valuable player that we are excited to add to our team," Philip Bruce, KHOU executive news director, said Monday in KHOU's first statement on the move.
"Not only does she know the business, but more importantly, she knows Houston, our community and our viewers."
