A small fire erupted at the construction site of a new apartment complex in Montrose, adding to the city's run of mysterious fires at new luxury apartment buildings.

The fire occurred on the fifth floor of the eight-story structure located at West Alabama and Dunlavy. The complex, The Susanne, is a Finger Companies development of luxury apartments.

Members of the Houston Fire Department saw heavy smoke billowing from one of the complex's upper levels and quickly put out the fire. While HFD was on the scene, Dunlavy was blocked off for more than an hour.

The cause of the fire remains unknown and is under investigation.

This fire late last week comes little more than a month after a massive fire at another Montrose apartment complex that was under construction. That five-alarm blaze leveled a controversial luxury apartment complex being built right next to a cemetery.
